TC VOLLEYBALL SWEEPS NORTHEASTERN; CLAIMS PROGRAM'S FIRST REGIONAL TITLE. History was made Saturday as the Triton Central Tigers claimed their first-ever IHSAA Regional Championship in volleyball, sweeping Northeastern in dominant fashion, 3-0, at Morristown High School. The Tigers came out determined and confident, taking the opening set 25-18 before cruising to a 25-10 victory in the second. Triton Central closed out the match in convincing fashion with another 25-18 win to seal the program’s first regional title and punch their ticket to the Class 2A Semi-State. Lucy May led the offensive attack with 14 kills, while Maryrose Felling set the tone with 22 assists. Alaina Darlage anchored the defense with 17 digs, and Gwyn Williams kept the pressure on Northeastern’s back row with 4 aces. At the net, Addy Gibbs recorded a solo block. With the victory, Triton Central improves to 24-8 on the season. The Tigers now advance to the IHSAA Class 2A Semi-State, where they’ll face Eastern (Pekin) at Bedford North Lawrence High School on Saturday at 12 PM. The winner will move on to the Semi-State Championship that evening at 7 PM, taking on either Greencastle or Barr-Reeve for a berth in the State Championship match on November 8th at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis at 1:30 PM.
