TC VOLLEYBALL CAPTURES SECTIONAL TITLE, ADVANCES TO REGIONAL. The Triton Central volleyball team put together a dominant weekend performance at the IHSAA Sectional #43, defeating Scecina and Heritage Christian to claim the program’s first sectional championship since 2020 — and sixth overall. In Saturday’s semifinal, the Tigers handled Scecina Memorial, 3–1, with set scores of 25–18, 25–20, 24–26, 25–20. Lucy May led the offense with 9 kills, while Maecy Cord delivered 4 aces from the service line. Audrey Darlage directed the attack with 14 assists, and Alaina Darlage anchored the defense with 11 digs. Addy Gibbs added 2 solo blocks at the net. Triton Central carried that momentum into the championship match Saturday night, defeating Heritage Christian 3–1 to clinch the title. The Tigers took the match with scores of 25–21, 28–26, 18–25, 25–16. May powered the offense again with a standout 21 kills, setting a new single-season school record for kills. Her total surpassed the previous mark of 314 set by Ella Blair in 2018. Maryrose Felling contributed 21 assists, Alaina Darlage tallied 17 digs, and Gibbs recorded 2 solo blocks in another strong all-around team effort. With the victory, Triton Central earned its first sectional crown in five years and now turns its focus to the IHSAA Regional at Morristown High School, where the Tigers will face Northeastern at 4 p.m. Saturday in pursuit of the program’s first-ever regional championship.
