TC FOOTBALL FALLS TO SHELBYVILLE. Triton Central put together a strong offensive performance Friday night at Shelbyville, but three turnovers proved costly as the Tigers fell to the Golden Bears 41-21. The loss drops Triton Central to 2-3 overall and 1-2 in Hoosier Legends Conference play. Shelbyville jumped out to a 13-0 lead in the first quarter before TC answered with a pair of touchdowns in the second quarter. The Golden Bears added two more scores in the second, however, taking a 27-13 lead into halftime. Shelbyville added one touchdown in each of the final two quarters to secure the victory, while the Tigers scored once in the fourth. Despite the final score, the Tigers moved the ball effectively throughout the night, piling up 429 total yards on 58 plays. TC threw for 326 yards and added 103 yards on the ground while picking up 19 first downs. Quarterback Matthew Wilkins turned in one of his biggest statistical games of the season, completing 18-of-30 passes for 326 yards and two touchdowns. His longest completion covered 69 yards. Junior Dylan Showalter was the Tigers' top offensive weapon, hauling in seven passes for 209 yards and two touchdowns, including a 69-yard reception. Tevian Faulkner led TC on the ground with 14 carries for 99 yards, while also catching two passes for 26 yards. Henry Kemper added three receptions for 28 yards and a rushing touchdown, while Ty Bergman contributed three catches for 29 yards. The Tigers' 429 yards were nearly identical to Shelbyville's 432 yards, but TC's three interceptions were a key difference in the game. Shelbyville did not turn the ball over. Triton Central will look to bounce back next Friday when the Tigers travel to Greenwood. The Woodmen enter the matchup at 2-2 overall and 1-2 in HLC play. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 PM. JV Tigers Fall to Shelbyville The Triton Central JV football team dropped an 18-6 decision to Shelbyville at home Saturday, moving the JV Tigers to 1-4 on the season. TC will return home next Saturday when the JV Tigers host Greenwood. Kickoff is scheduled for 11 AM.
