TC BASEBALL FALLS TO SOUTHPORT. Triton Central varsity baseball dropped a hard-fought road contest Wednesday night, falling 6-5 to Southport High School. Triton Central jumped out early with a run in the first inning and later scored four runs in the fifth to take a 5-1 lead. Southport answered with a four-run fifth inning before walking the game off with a run in the bottom of the sixth. The Tigers collected nine hits in the loss, led by Weston Smith, who went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Ty Bergman also had a strong night at the plate, finishing 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Kellan Dishman added an RBI hit, while Brody Hartman drove in a run as well. Kail Slaughter, Rylan Anderson and Andrew Berry each contributed hits in the effort. Defensively, the Tigers played a clean game without committing an error. Kellan Dishman recorded eight putouts, while Rylan Anderson and Smith each added multiple assists. On the mound, Janssen Capps worked five innings and struck out three batters, while Anderson pitched in relief. The Tigers move to 7-16 on the season and will return to action Thursday night at Park Tudor School with first pitch scheduled for 5:30 PM.
