GIRLS TENNIS VS. FRANKLIN COMMUNITY (5/15)

TC GIRLS TENNIS FALLS TO FRANKLIN COMMUNITY IN REGULAR SEASON FINALE. Triton Central’s girls tennis team closed out the regular season Friday night with a hard-fought 3-2 loss to Franklin Community at Triton Central High School. Despite the loss, the Tigers battled throughout the evening and finished the regular season with an impressive 17-3 overall record heading into postseason play. Franklin Community secured the team victory by sweeping the singles matches. At No. 1 singles, Marnie Moore defeated Maryrose Felling 6-2, 6-1, while Madison Luse earned a 6-0, 6-0 win over Anniston Evans at No. 2 singles. At No. 3 singles, Kate Williams topped Ellie Gast 6-1, 6-3. Triton Central responded with strong performances in doubles play, winning both courts. At No. 1 doubles, Neve Kahler and Kate Collier rebounded after dropping the opening set to rally for a 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 victory over Melanie Flora and Remy Davidson. The No. 2 doubles team of Estelle Gearlds and Cadence Roberts also battled through a competitive first set before pulling away for a 7-5, 6-0 win. The junior varsity Tigers earned a 4-2 victory behind strong doubles play. Caydence Stout and Keely O’Gara, Morgan Fisher and Anna Kemper, Brenna Mahurin and Madison Swisher, and Harper Sadler and Reese Kelley all recorded wins for Triton Central. With the regular season now complete, the Tigers turn their attention to postseason play. Triton Central will open IHSAA Sectional No. 24 action Tuesday evening at Shelbyville against Waldron at 5 PM. The winner will advance to face host Shelbyville on Wednesday in the sectional semifinals.
