TC BASEBALL FALLS TO HERITAGE CHRISTIAN. Triton Central dropped its Friday night matchup against Heritage Christian, falling 11-4 at home. The Tigers stayed within striking distance early, trailing just 2-1 through the first four innings behind a strong start on the mound from Rylan Anderson. Heritage Christian, however, broke the game open late with a big offensive surge over the final three innings to pull away for the victory. Triton Central finished with five hits offensively, including two home runs. Janssen Capps connected on a solo homer and finished with an RBI, while Weston Smith added a home run of his own, scored twice, and drove in a run. Kail Slaughter also contributed an RBI single, and Andrew Berry and Brody Hartman each added hits. On the mound, Anderson gave the Tigers a solid effort, pitching four innings and allowing just two runs while striking out seven. Nash Durbin worked the final three innings and struck out four. Defensively, Triton Central struggled at times, committing seven errors, which led to several unearned runs and extended innings for Heritage Christian. The Eagles capitalized on those opportunities and finished with 11 runs on eight hits. Despite the loss, the Tigers showed flashes offensively with power at the plate and continued to compete throughout the game. With the loss, Triton Central falls to 6-14 on the season. The Tigers will look to bounce back Saturday morning as they travel to Northeastern for a varsity doubleheader beginning at 11:00 AM.
