TC GIRLS TENNIS BEATS INDIAN CREEK; WIN HLC TITLE. Triton Central’s girls tennis team claimed the Hoosier Legends Conference championship Wednesday night, defeating Indian Creek 3-2 in a high-stakes road matchup. The victory improves the Tigers to 16-2 on the season and secured the conference title behind a dominant effort from the singles lineup. Triton Central swept all three singles positions to clinch the match. At No. 1 singles, Maryrose Felling delivered a strong performance in a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Reese Tunell. Anniston Evans was nearly flawless at No. 2 singles, rolling to a 6-1, 6-0 win over Gracie Werden, while Zhibek Zhumaly completed the sweep with a solid 6-1, 6-3 victory against Raegen Weddle at No. 3. Indian Creek claimed both doubles points in competitive matches. At No. 1 doubles, Lilly Swanson and Lexi Sichting defeated Kate Collier and Neve Kahler 6-4, 6-2. The No. 2 doubles match turned into a three-set battle, where Estelle Gearlds and Cadence Roberts fought back to force a deciding set before falling 6-4, 2-6, 6-4. The Tigers’ junior varsity squad also enjoyed a strong evening, defeating Indian Creek 8-2. Ellie Gast, Morgan Fisher, and Lexi Poole each earned singles victories, while Triton Central picked up doubles wins from the teams of Caydence Stout and Keely O’Gara, Anna Kemper and Kenzie Hoover, Ava Copeland and Lucie Garver, Madison Swisher and Brenna Mahurin, and Penelope Turner and Harper Sadler. The Tigers will now turn their attention to the Shelby County Championship match, where they will host Waldron Thursday evening beginning at 4:30 PM.
