TC BASEBALL DROPS EXTRA-INNING BATTLE AT SHENANDOAH. Triton Central dropped a tough extra-inning battle Tuesday night, falling 5-4 to Shenandoah on the road. The Tigers found themselves trailing early after Shenandoah pushed across a run in the first inning, but Triton Central answered with a strong fourth inning, scoring three runs to take a 3-1 lead. Shenandoah tied the game with runs in the sixth and seventh innings before eventually walking it off in the bottom of the eighth. Despite being outhit 13-5, the Tigers stayed competitive throughout the night thanks to timely hitting and solid pitching. Bo West led the offense with a 2-for-4 performance, scoring a run and driving in another. Kail Slaughter, Andrew Berry, and Weston Smith each added a hit, while Smith also recorded an RBI. Triton Central showed patience at the plate, drawing four walks and capitalizing on three Shenandoah errors to generate offense. On the mound, Janssen Capps turned in a strong complete-game effort despite taking the loss. The senior tossed 7.1 innings, allowing five runs — only two of them earned — while striking out two and throwing 105 pitches. Defensively, the Tigers committed two errors, while Shenandoah finished with three. Triton Central also turned a double play and received solid defensive performances throughout the field to help keep the game close. With the loss, Triton Central falls to 6-11 on the season. The Tigers will look to bounce back Wednesday night when they return home to face Rushville. First pitch is scheduled for 5:30 PM.
