GIRLS TENNIS VS. HERITAGE CHRISTIAN (5/11)

TC GIRLS TENNIS SWEEPS HERITAGE CHRISTIAN. Triton Central’s girls tennis team earned another impressive victory Monday night, defeating Heritage Christian 5-0 on the road to improve to 14-2 on the season. While the final score showed a sweep for the Tigers, several matches turned into intense battles that showcased Triton Central’s resilience and composure in pressure moments. At No. 1 singles, Maryrose Felling overcame a competitive opening set before pulling away for a 6-4, 6-0 victory over Addison Davis. The most dramatic match of the night came at No. 2 singles, where Anniston Evans rallied after dropping the first set to defeat Isabelle Papineau 5-7, 6-4, 11-9 in a marathon super tiebreak. Zhibek Zhumlay added another point at No. 3 singles in another tightly contested match, battling through two tiebreak sets to earn a 7-6 (4), 7-6 (3) victory over Hazel Ritz. The Tigers also found success in doubles play. At No. 1 doubles, Neve Kahler and Kate Collier played consistently throughout in a 6-3, 6-3 win over Sasha Whitney and Lauryn Weist. The No. 2 doubles team of Cadence Roberts and Estelle Gearlds also faced a challenge in the opening set before taking control for a 7-6 (0), 6-3 victory. The junior varsity squad added a strong performance of its own, defeating Heritage Christian 6-1. Ellie Gast, Morgan Fisher, and Anna Kemper each picked up singles wins, while the doubles teams of Caydence Stout and Keely O’Gara, Caydence Stout and Gast, and Keely O’Gara and Lexi Poole all earned victories. The Tigers will return to action Tuesday evening at home against Oldenburg Academy, with matches scheduled to begin at 5:30 PM.
