TC GIRLS TENNIS ADVANCES TO COUNTY FINAL WITH WIN OVER SOUTHWESTERN. Triton Central’s girls tennis team opened Shelby County Tournament play in dominant fashion Saturday morning, sweeping Southwestern 5-0 at Triton Central High School. Originally scheduled to be played at Southwestern, the match was moved to Triton Central due to overnight rain and court conditions. It ended up being the only county tournament match completed on Saturday, with the championship round now set for Thursday afternoon. The Tigers showed little rust despite the weather adjustments, controlling play across all five varsity courts to improve to 13-2 on the season. At No. 1 singles, Maryrose Felling led the way with a strong 6-1, 6-1 victory over Kelsey Stringer. Anniston Evans was dominant at No. 2 singles, not dropping a game in a 6-0, 6-0 shutout. Filling in at No. 3 singles, Ellie Gast delivered an impressive performance, earning a 6-1, 6-0 win over Kim Vasquez. Triton Central’s doubles teams also turned in commanding performances. The No. 1 duo of Neve Kahler and Kate Collier cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 victory, while Estelle Gearlds and Cadence Roberts controlled the No. 2 doubles match with a 6-2, 6-2 win. TC will be back in action Monday night at Heritage Christian starting at 5 PM.
