TC GIRLS TENNIS SWEEPS BEECH GROVE. Triton Central’s girls tennis team bounced back in dominant fashion Thursday night, sweeping Beech Grove 5-0 on the road to improve to 12-2 on the season. The Tigers controlled the match from start to finish, dropping just five total games across all five varsity courts. At No. 1 singles, Maryrose Felling earned a solid 6-2, 6-2 victory over Mikayla Powell-Sargent. Anniston Evans was flawless at No. 2 singles, posting a 6-0, 6-0 shutout, while Zhibek Zhumaly continued her strong season with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles. Triton Central was equally dominant in doubles play. The No. 1 team of Kate Collier and Neve Kahler did not allow a game in a commanding 6-0, 6-0 victory over Dori Hines and Matti McMullin. At No. 2 doubles, Estelle Gearlds and Cadence Roberts matched that effort with another 6-0, 6-0 sweep to complete the shutout. The junior varsity Tigers also found success in limited action, earning a 2-0 victory. Caydence Stout picked up a 6-1 win, while Ellie Gast added a 6-0 victory. With the win, Triton Central improves to 12-2 overall and heads into the weekend with momentum as the Tigers prepare for the Shelby County Tournament. Triton Central will open tournament play Saturday morning at Southwestern against the hosts. The winner of that matchup will advance to face the winner of the Morristown and Waldron semifinal following the completion of the opening round matches.
