TRACK & FIELD @ SHELBY COUNTY TOURNAMENT (5/6)

TC TRACK & FIELD COMPETE AT COUNTY; BOYS WIN, GIRLS COME IN 2ND. Triton Central track & field put together an impressive performance Wednesday night at the Shelby County Meet hosted by Morristown, highlighted by a county championship from the boys team and a strong runner-up finish from the girls squad. The Triton Central boys edged out Morristown for the county title, finishing with 70 points. Morristown followed closely with 65 points, while Waldron placed third with 57 and Southwestern finished fourth with 36. The Tigers were powered by several championship performances throughout the night. The 4x100-meter relay team of Zeke Robertson, David Gorth, Landon Slone, and Braden Brown sprinted to a first-place finish, helping secure valuable team points. Robertson continued his dominant season in the hurdles, winning both the 110-meter hurdles and 300-meter hurdles to lead the Tigers on the track. In the distance events, Hudson Reichanadter added another county title for Triton Central by claiming first place in the 1600-meter run. On the girls side, Triton Central earned second place overall with 79 points, finishing behind county champion Morristown, which totaled 109 points. Waldron placed third with 29 points, followed by Southwestern with five. The Tigers were led by a standout night from Layla Compton, who captured county titles in both the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash. Compton also teamed with Farah Coen, Ryn West, and Kaylynn Tremblett to win the 4x100-meter relay, giving Triton Central another first-place finish on the evening. Triton Central will return to action Friday night at Beech Grove for the Hoosier Legends Conference Meet, with events scheduled to begin at 6 PM.
