TC BASEBALL SPLITS DOUBLEHEADER WITH INDY GENESIS. Triton Central split its Saturday morning doubleheader against Indy Genesis, cruising to an 11-1 win in game one before dropping game two 10-4. The Tigers now sit at 6-8 on the season. Game 1: Triton Central 11, Indy Genesis 1 The Tigers put together one of their most complete performances of the year in the opener, using a big early surge to secure the run-rule victory. After a scoreless first inning, Triton Central broke things open with three runs in the second and followed with a five-run third inning to take firm control. The Tigers added three more runs in the fifth to cap off the 11-1 win. Offensively, Triton Central tallied nine hits and showed patience at the plate with eight walks. Ty Bergman had a perfect day, going 2-for-2 with two RBIs, while Weston Smith added two hits and an RBI. Kellan Dishman contributed a double, and Brody Hartman, Janssen Capps, and Rylan Anderson each added hits as part of a balanced attack. On the mound, Brayden Hoover was dominant, earning the win after tossing four innings and allowing just one unearned run on three hits while striking out seven. Rylan Anderson added a scoreless inning to set the tone early. Defensively, the Tigers were solid, committing just one error while limiting Indy Genesis to three hits. Game 2: Indy Genesis 10, Triton Central 4 In the second game, Triton Central jumped out to an early lead but couldn’t hold off a late surge from Indy Genesis. The Tigers scored one run in the first and added two more in the second to take a 3-0 lead. However, Indy Genesis chipped away with runs in the third and fourth before breaking the game open with a six-run sixth inning to take control. Triton Central finished with eight hits in the loss. Ty Bergman led the way again, going 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Brayden Hoover added a double and an RBI, while Andrew Berry also drove in a run. Janssen Capps scored twice, and Brody Hartman contributed a hit and a run. On the mound, the Tigers used multiple arms, with Cooper Alford taking the loss after allowing four runs. Indy Genesis capitalized on opportunities, finishing with 13 hits and taking advantage of eight Triton Central errors. Despite the split, Triton Central showed flashes of strong offensive production throughout the day. The Tigers will be back in action Tuesday night as they travel to Indian Creek for a 5:30 PM first pitch.
