TC BASEBALL FALLS TO MONROVIA. Triton Central battled into extra innings Tuesday night but came up just short, falling 9-8 to Monrovia in a Hoosier Legends Conference matchup on the road. The Tigers found themselves in an early hole after Monrovia scored two runs in the first inning, but responded in the second with a pair of runs to even the score. After several quiet innings, Triton Central surged ahead with a four-run fifth inning to take a 6-2 lead. Monrovia answered back in the later innings, scoring three runs in the sixth and adding another in the seventh to tie the game and eventually force extras. Both teams pushed across runs in the 10th inning, but the Bulldogs delivered the decisive blow with a walk-off run to secure the 9-8 win. Offensively, Triton Central totaled five hits but made the most of its opportunities by drawing 13 walks. Kellan Dishman provided a big swing with a home run and three RBIs, while Brody Hartman added a double and an RBI. Weston Smith scored twice and reached base multiple times, and Brayden Hoover also scored twice and reached safely in several plate appearances. On the mound, Rylan Anderson gave the Tigers a solid outing, allowing two runs (none earned) over 2.2 innings while striking out four. Janssen Capps carried the bulk of the workload, tossing seven innings and allowing six runs while striking out five. Defensively, Triton Central committed two errors, while Monrovia had three. Despite being outhit 14-5, the Tigers stayed competitive thanks to patience at the plate and timely hitting. The Tigers will look to bounce back quickly as they return home Wednesday night to host Monrovia, with first pitch scheduled for 5:30 PM.
