TC BOYS BASKETBALL SWEEP GCA, SEGO BREAKS CAREER STEALS RECORD. It was a record-setting afternoon at Triton Central on Saturday as senior Eli Sego etched his name into the school record books while leading the Tigers to a 56-39 victory over Greenwood Christian. With the win, Triton Central’s varsity improves to 14-3 on the season. Sego poured in 24 points to lead the Tigers offensively, but it was his work on the defensive end that made history. During the game, Sego broke the Triton Central boys basketball career steals record, surpassing the previous mark of 261 steals set by Erick Hebauf (2017-21). Triton Central set the tone early, building a 15-10 lead after the first quarter. The Tigers extended their advantage to 30-20 by halftime and continued to control the tempo in the third quarter, taking a 39-24 lead into the final period. Brody Hartman provided a strong scoring punch with 16 points, while Jackson Faust added six. Grant Long and Brayden Hoover each chipped in four and two points respectively, with Henry Kemper and Conner McClure also contributing two points apiece as the Tigers methodically pulled away in the fourth quarter. JV Tigers Roll Past Cougars The junior varsity squad also earned a convincing win, defeating Greenwood Christian 53-35 to improve to 11-4 on the season. Triton Central jumped out to a 17-6 lead after one quarter and never looked back, holding a 27-14 advantage at halftime. The Tigers maintained control throughout the second half to secure the 18-point victory. Landon Bailey led the JV effort with 16 points, while Owen Hornberger added 12 and Julius Schlottmann finished with seven. Dominic Moore scored six points, Chace Calderone had five, Dylan Showalter added four, Jackson Ratliff scored two, and Conner Eubanks chipped in one. Triton Central returns to action Tuesday night at home against Indian Creek. The JV game tips off at 6 PM, followed by the varsity at 7:30 PM.
