BOYS BASKETBALL VS. COVENANT CHRISTIAN (2/5)

TC BOYS BASKETBALL FALLS ON THE ROAD AT COVENANT CHRISTIAN. Triton Central battled throughout Thursday night but came up short on the road, falling to Covenant Christian 51-45 in varsity action. The Tigers got off to a solid start, edging Covenant Christian 10-8 at the end of the first quarter. However, the host Warriors responded in the second period, outscoring TC 14-7 to take a 22-17 lead into halftime. Covenant Christian continued to create separation in the third quarter, stretching its advantage to 32-25 heading into the final frame. Triton Central made a late push in the fourth quarter, but the comeback attempt fell short as the Warriors secured the six-point win. Eli Sego led the Tigers with 18 points, while Brody Hartman added nine. Henry Kemper contributed eight points, Jackson Faust scored six, and Grant Long chipped in five. Conner McClure rounded out the scoring with one point. With the loss, Triton Central falls to 13-3 on the season. In junior varsity action, the Tigers also dropped a 43-32 decision. Covenant Christian led 10-8 after the first quarter before the teams entered halftime tied at 14-14. A strong third quarter by the Warriors proved decisive, as they outscored TC 22-11 in the period to take control. Owen Hornberger and Jayden Alplanalp led the JV squad with eight points apiece. Landon Bailey added seven points, while Dylan Showalter and Chace Calderone each had four. Conner Eubanks finished with one point. The Triton Central JV now stands at 10-4 on the year. The Tigers return home Saturday afternoon to host Greenwood Christian. The JV game tips off at noon, followed by the varsity at 1:30 PM
