TC GIRLS BASKETBALL BEATS IRVINGTON IN SECTIONAL OPENER. Triton Central wasted no time making a statement in its IHSAA Sectional 43 opener Wednesday night at Heritage Christian, cruising to a 74-5 victory over Irvington Prep. The Tigers came out firing on both ends of the floor, racing to a 23-1 lead after the first quarter. By halftime, TC had extended its lead to 50-1, fueled by balanced scoring. The Tigers continued their dominance in the third quarter, holding a 61-1 advantage heading into the final frame before closing out the 69-point win. Lexi Eubanks led Triton Central with 19 points, pacing a well-distributed offensive effort. Maryrose Felling added 14 points, while Kate Collier contributed 13. Rylee Pruitt finished with eight points. Quinn King, Cheyenne Allen, and Hayden McMichael each scored four points. Layla Compton added three, Maddie Burnett chipped in two, and Anna Kemper and Peyton Fillippinie each scored one point to round out the Tigers’ scoring. With the victory, Triton Central improves to 19-4 on the season and advances to the sectional semifinals. The Tigers will face Eastern Hancock in the IHSAA Sectional 43 semifinals Friday night at Heritage Christian. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 PM, with a spot in the sectional championship on the line.
