TC GIRLS BASKETBALL FALLS TO BEECH GROVE, JV FINISHES SEASON WITH WIN. With a share of the inaugural Hoosier Legends Conference title on the line Thursday night, Triton Central’s varsity girls basketball team came up short on the road, falling to Beech Grove 53–42. Beech Grove set the tone early, jumping out to a 14–5 lead after the first quarter and extending the advantage to 23–12 by halftime. The hosts used a strong third quarter to push the margin to 43–29 heading into the final period. Triton Central battled back in the fourth, outscoring Beech Grove 13–10, but couldn’t overcome the earlier deficit. Kate Collier led the Tigers with 17 points. Layla Compton added eight, Quinn King scored seven, Cheyenne Allen finished with six, Maryrose Felling had three, and Rylee Pruitt chipped in two. With the loss, Triton Central moves to 18–4 on the season. In the junior varsity game, the Tigers closed out their season in dominant fashion with a 38–11 victory over Beech Grove. Triton Central led 14–5 after the first quarter and 24–11 at halftime, then shut out Beech Grove in the second half to secure the win. Maddie Burnett led the way with 13 points. Anna Kemper added seven, Madison Swisher scored six, Hayden McMichael and Laiyla McLane each had four, Peyton Fillippinie contributed three, and Rylee Pruitt added one. The TC JV squad finishes the season with an impressive 17–5 record. Up next, the Triton Central varsity team turns its focus to postseason play. The Tigers will open IHSAA Sectional 43 action Wednesday night at Heritage Christian, taking on Irvington Prep at 7:30 PM.
