TC GIRLS BASKETBALL SWEEPS COVENANT CHRISTIAN. Triton Central’s varsity girls basketball team took care of business at home Wednesday night, defeating Covenant Christian 51–39. The Tigers jumped out to a 16–10 lead after the first quarter and tightened the defensive screws in the second, limiting Covenant Christian to just two points to carry a 25–12 advantage into halftime. Triton Central extended the margin to 30–19 after three quarters before closing out the 12-point victory. Maryrose Felling led the Tigers with 23 points, while Quinn King added 13. Kate Collier and Cheyenne Allen each scored five points, Layla Compton chipped in three, and Rylee Pruitt added two. With the win, Triton Central improves to 18–3 on the season. In the junior varsity contest, Triton Central dominated a two-quarter game, defeating Covenant Christian 28–5. The Tigers led 9–2 after the first quarter and continued to build separation the rest of the way. Ryn West and Maddie Burnett led the JV squad with eight points each. Hayden McMichael, Rylee Pruitt, Peyton Fillippinie, Kenzie Hoover, Anna Kemper, and Madison Swisher all contributed two points. The TC JV team now stands at 16–5 on the year. Triton Central will travel to Beech Grove Thursday night in a game with conference implications. The winner of the varsity matchup will earn a share of the inaugural Hoosier Legends Conference girls basketball title. The junior varsity game is set for 6 PM, followed by the varsity contest at 7:30 PM.
