GIRLS BASKETBALL VS. SOUTHWESTERN (12/17)

TC GIRLS BASKETBALL SWEEPS SOUTHWESTERN. Triton Central’s girls basketball program turned in a dominant night on both levels Wednesday, rolling past Southwestern in convincing fashion in a home doubleheader. The Tiger varsity squad overwhelmed Southwestern 85-15, jumping out to a 31-7 lead after one quarter. Triton Central extended the margin to 54-14 by halftime, pushed the advantage to 75-14 after three quarters. Maryrose Felling poured in a team-high 20 points, while Quinn King added 13 points. Layla Compton finished with 11 points, and both Kate Collier and Madison Swisher chipped in 10 apiece. Eliana Joy scored four points, Lexi Eubanks and Anna Kemper each added three, Cheyenne Allen and Rylee Pruitt scored five apiece, and Ryn West rounded out the scoring with one point. With the victory, Triton Central’s varsity team improved to 7-3 on the season. Earlier in the night, the Tiger junior varsity beat Southwestern, earning a 26-2 win in a shortened two-quarter game. Triton Central led 15-2 after the first quarter and continued to control the pace to close out the contest. Ryn West led the JV Tigers with seven points, while Eliana Joy followed with five. Hayden McMichael, Anna Kemper, Madison Swisher, and Laiyla McLane each scored three points, and Maddie Burnett added two. The JV Tigers improved to 9-2 on the year. Triton Central returns to action next Tuesday when it hosts Batesville. The junior varsity game is scheduled to tip off at 11 AM, followed by the varsity game at 12:30 PM.
